This solution, apart from providing Na+ and CI-, suppliers moderate amounts of potassium and bicarbonate ions.
it is indicated in the following.
- Mild metabolic acidosis
- As a fluid and electrolyte replenisher in cases of degydration or shock due to diarrhoea and vomiting, peritonitis and interstitial obstruction
- Treatment after serious burns and in cases of Ketonuria.
Contraindications
- Gastric outlet obstructing
- Use with caution in oedematous patients suffering from cardiac, renal or hepatic conditions.
